Legislative Action for Collection Agents either douing business in FL or calling to FL residents

How many people think collection agencies should be mandated to have business licensing and require their employees to be trained in the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Most honorable collection agencies are licensed by the Commercial Law League of America, which has strict standards on debt collection practices?
Secondly, who would be interested in sending a pre-written letter (for convenience sake) to their local Senators and Congresspersons mandating legislative action be imposed on these agencies to make sure they are following the rules?

Collection agencies are governed by a multitude of state and federal laws. The LABBB has an informational article on "How To Deal With a Collection Agency" at:
http://www.la.bbb.org/GIReport.aspx?DocumentID=69
There's lots of good info on dealing with collection agencies at this site too: www.privacyrights.org
What collection agency generated your inquiry?

I see now the tag for "Collection Information Bureau", so disregard previous question about what agency you were inquiring about. Have you submitted a complaint to the BBB and to the FTC? Check out the FTC site "bt Collection FAQs: A Guide for Consumers" at:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm
