Review 3/1/2008
I was shopping for a vehicle on the internet and came across an advertisement that I wanted to pursue further. The advertisement was being represented by Grand Prix Motors for a gold/tan 1992 Mercedes 300SL located at 11267 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066. I contact the dealer number posted on the ad and there was no response so I left a message. No one called me back after several days so I called them again. I explained to Pablo who I was and what the nature of the call was for and he was extremely helpful. By the end of Pablo and I conversation, I was extremely impressed with the way he was conducting himself. I mentioned to Pablo that I would pay the dealership site a visit soon to further pursue the Mercedes. I was very intrigued by the price of this vehicle although it had 193,000 miles on it. The interior and exterior was in great condition but there was one thing during the test drive I noticed that kind of puzzled me. The car wouldn’t accelerate like most cars would do when you step on the gas holding it to the floor. I really like the car so I didn’t pay it any attention after a while thinking this may result into a bigger issue later on down the road. The person who took me on a test drive said he was a part owner and the car was fine. After the test drive was complete and I expressed my excitement over having found the car, we took it back to the dealership. The part owner assured me that everything would be ok and they could finance anyone. He showed me to the finance representative (Joe’s) office and I began revealing everything that I knew about my credit, how much cash I had for a down and a possible trade-in. Joe retrieved my information and looked at the automotive scoring number report and said he could find me financing and it would not be a problem. He stated that he had seen lower scoring and he was able to satisfy getting the person into the vehicle they wanted without a problem. I left the dealership and Joe gave me two of his business cards. He said he would call me and alert me of my options to purchase the vehicle but he didn’t. Several days went by again and there was no call from Joe, part owner or anyone. I called the dealership after several days of waiting and asked to speak to Joe. He refused to get on the phone and I was put on hold for long periods of time more than once. Someone else picked up the line and started chewing me out about how my credit was and how they would never give someone like me a loan for any reason. He said it would be a hassle and we know people like you and you never pay. He told me not to be upset because its just business as he talked over me the whole time. No one provided me with any options regarding purchasing this vehicle and treated me like scum. I felted discriminated against, miserable, unappreciated, my money didn’t matter and that I wasn’t good enough to purchase one of their high-end vehicle. The cost of this vehicle was about $6,000 and I had $3000.00 cash in my pocket the first time I visited this dealership and they were informed. After a hand full of experiences with financing vehicles in my entire life up to now, this has been by far the worst, most horrendous experience ever.
