I should have known when Move On and Relocation showed up to do my move and their charge in relation to their quote were no where close to each other (nearly double!) that I should have had them unload the truck, but the timeframe for the move did not allow that judgement to prevail. Now here I am a year later finally receiving my items and I find that items have gone missing between pack up and delivery, I only wish I had known what was going to happen.
At this point given the poor tracking system Move On and Relocation has, the flat screen TV that they packed up and removed from my home can not be located. It was crated and listed as a box. But there is no listing of this number in their invoice. I did receive the flat screen TV stand, if only I had the TV that went with it! There was another TV (not a flat screen) which was listed separate. That one arrived. I also lost other belongings including a toolbox and other miscellaneous items. It is not a surprise that somewhere in their process these item got lost.
The fact that Move On and Relocation will not consider taking responsibility for their action proves the kind of business they are. The reason for this complaint is not to get money out of Move On but to obtain what belongs to me that they took. I believe this company is of bad reputation given how they do business: They do not accept credit cards or personal checks. Every transaction has to be done in cash, which I'll be discussing with the IRS. At the time of delivery, the truck driver showed up alone, asking us for help and offered to pay us! They didn't deliver the first time since I didn't have the amount of cash (or postal money order) readily available. I had a personal check. They refused to accept the check and deliver my belongings. I had to reschedule and they finally delivered a week later charging me another $300. The movers also wanted to charge me $75/step (first 7 seven steps are free) for carrying items to my 2nd floor. I was not aware of this beforehand. I refused to pay and I carried the items myself. A move that should have cost me only $1,000 (their initial quote!) ended up costing me $2,100, without counting a full year of storage that I paid ($128/month), charged by credit card monthly.
All this led me to believe that there is more to them than meets the eye. I know at this point I will not get my belongings back but I want to prevent others from going through the stress I have been going through in the past month. I hope this is duly noticed here and others see this. If I can prevent more people from going through all this headache, that will be reward enough for me, at this point. I think someone else is not being truthful.
